About Angelique Terrelonge

Fashion has always been part of my story.
Born in New York City to Jamaican immigrant parents, I was raised between two worlds that would profoundly shape my creative vision. While New York exposed me to the energy and innovation of the fashion capital of the world, part of my childhood was spent in Jamaica, where I witnessed the artistry, craftsmanship, and entrepreneurial spirit of the women in my family.
My greatest inspiration came from my two grandmothers, both talented seamstresses who custom-made clothing for many of Jamaica's most fashionable women. I grew up watching beautiful garments come to life through skilled hands, meticulous craftsmanship, and an unwavering commitment to quality. Long before I understood the technical aspects of fashion design, I learned that clothing had the power to make women feel confident, elegant, and extraordinary.
From an early age, when asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, my answer was always the same: a fashion designer.
At just sixteen years old, I took the first major step toward realizing that dream when I was accepted into the Fashion Design program at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York City. It remains one of the most exciting and defining moments of my life. Following graduation, I was accepted into FIT's inaugural Fur Design and Marketing Bachelor of Science degree program, where I developed a deep appreciation for luxury materials, craftsmanship, and the artistry of design.
After completing my studies, I began my career in New York City's renowned fashion and fur industry, building a foundation that would shape more than three decades of work in fashion design, product development, patternmaking, garment construction, and luxury craftsmanship.
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working across multiple areas of the fashion industry while continually refining my expertise in couture sewing techniques, special occasion design, luxury accessories, and handcrafted embellishments. My work has been featured in international publications including Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, People, PopSugar, and other leading fashion and lifestyle media. In 2009, I was honored to be selected as a finalist in Mercedes-Benz Miami Fashion Week.
Beyond fashion, I have always believed in using creativity to uplift others. Through my work teaching fashion design to incarcerated women in a vocational reentry program, I witnessed firsthand how craftsmanship and creativity can transform lives. Today, I am proud to have employed some of those same women, continuing a mission that extends beyond design.
Every Angelique Terrelonge collection reflects the influences that have shaped my journey—from the fashionable streets of New York to the craftsmanship traditions of Jamaica, from couture training at FIT to decades of industry experience. Whether creating feather-adorned accessories, luxury handbags, bridal pieces, or couture-inspired designs, my mission remains the same: to empower women through beauty, craftsmanship, and self-expression.
Fashion is more than what we wear. It is confidence, artistry, heritage, and the celebration of life's most meaningful moments.
